Countdown to Singularity, linear scale.

Image via Wikipedia

Hello and welcome, dear reader!

I have previously blogged about Artificial General Intelligence at http://seedai.blogspot.com/ and about transhumanism on the, now defunct, site jupiterbrains.com. I have never really gotten in to a steady habit of posting updates and I think that has been because I have tried too much to write long-ish articles.

To cure this, I have decided to write about what everyone else writes about. Trivialities about my life. The difference being that my life is the life of a "practicing" transhumanist, so this is the aspect I'll focus on.

I'll try to post book reviews, thoughts on diet, supplementation and exercise, maybe the occasional write-up of news that interests me and probably some AI stuff as well. If you are technically interested in AGI, check out my Seed AI blog.

Incidentally, I consider myself more of a transhumanist than a singularitarian, so the image is just something random that I picked from Zemanta.

Well, yes, I agree that the Singularity and transhumanism are closely related. I merely mentioned it as a matter of semantics. As someone who works with AI, I believe that AGI will come "soon". When the hardware is fast enough that anyone can afford to play around with a computer as fast as a brain, AGI software will quickly follow. Regarding the issue of friendliness, I suspect that it would be good to have "built in" but not critical.

The Singularity is an idea that bolsters transhumanism and also makes us look at the possibility that AGI could very well soon be present here on Earth as well. To me they are intertwined ideas that gracefully compliment one another.

And I loved your blog post about Intermittent Fasting and posted it on Blogging the Singularity. Keep it up and you'll have a large audience sooner rather than later.

I agree. You shouldn't need to be a member in order to view blog posts, forum posts, etc. Chris, is there any way to change this?

It seems you need to be a member to view this blog. I don't like that at all. Is there a way to change this?
