We humans, became cyborgs the moment we picked up the first stone or club. With those inaugural, most simplistic of tools we began extending the limits of our physiology. Back to the question of when does a human stop being a human? Humans (Homo-sa…

Actually, depending on your religion/system of beliefs, "soul" is a very subjective term. Contrary to popular misconception, the Christian definition of the soul is that the soul and the body are one and the same. There is no pale ghost that flies o…

All of your examples are the results of our brains. Just because we don't understand how it works doesn't make it supernatural. We are machines, just biochemical instead of mechanical, and that's not a bad thing. Why is a nueral net so much worse th…

Hmm, well, I guess it depends on how you define "Human". As species, once we go posthuman, we'd technically no longer be human, we'd be machines. As for Thesueus' ship, even after replacing all the parts, the ship is still a ship, isn't it? It's ju…

To become cishuman is to ascend and Descend To become human is to ascend and Descend To become transhuman is to ascend and Descend The person broke out of the oppressive Feedback loop, not by furiously thrusting Out of it, but by not moving at all.…

@Damjan... You have a very normal stance on this issue, from a transhumanist perspective. Unfortunately for you, human beings are much more than machines, either biological or not. We have emotions, psychological complexes, fears, hope, et al. So y…

@Miguel You have a very normal stance on this issue, default. You won't have any trouble to find support on this issue. Most people like to conserve their bodies and their surrounding, but Transhumanism is trying to extend what a regular human is t…

You seem to be very proud of your scientist reason and techno-centric, too focused on the technological side of the human equation and not so aware of other dimensions of our being. And this seems to be a big problem with transhumanists, as they are…

@Miguel Antonio... You seem very proud of your biological origin and homo-centric, didn't the Buddha tell us that all matter can be great? So why wouldn't put up with a Buddha machine? What's so wrong with a machine beating a biological creature at…

I think it is narrow minded to consider a post-human only in terms of technological augmentation or modification. As the mind can be trained to overcome traditional human limitations as some yogis, fakirs and shamans do. If you study their minds you…

Perhaps "transhuman" is a point always ahead of us. A movement, not a destination. Any point reached will always have a horizon beyond. Perpetual evolution.

The ones that do accept a radically more liberal approach to human modification and experimentation will succeed the most, corporations, labs, individuals or countries. Hence they would hold most power, (thinking of intellectual modifications now),…

The problem with that is I don't think the vast majority will fully embrace no holds barred transhumanism. Thus they'll seek to establish limits based on what I think is fear & ignorance. I can understand legitimate concerns, but theological concern…

I think the real question should be the other way round: will humans be afforded the same rights as transhumans? Or given any rights at all. And you really can't take the example of the Amish because the gap between human and Transhuman will be muc…

In the case of an inanimate construct like a ship, it's still the same ship. But with sentient animals the question becomes more complex in my eyes. I must say though, after the point has been reached will transhumans be afforded the same rights as…

by the way, the gravity is not evolving... we are talking about the evolution, specially the technological one. And of course this tech evolution is not happening by itself.. we are making it happen... or should i say, what we are doing deliberately…

I have known of Transhumanism for a little over a year, and am just now starting to read The Singularity is Near (at the insistence of a friend). The topic provides endless intriguing discussions with said friend, about the psychological impact, the metaphysical implications, and social issues that would result, to name a few subjects.

On a more personal note, I enjoy conundrums, paradoxes, puzzles, and anything which challenges my mind to grow. The range of my interests spans the universe, from the quantum to the astronomical.
