It gives me an entirely new perspective and a purpose in this otherwise meaningless universe. :)

It excites me to know the accelerating rate of new technologies and makes me embrace science even more.

It makes me forecast how I should plan my career knowing that new fields of science will emerge in the coming decades.

It makes me want to take more care of my body so I can live long enough to live forever. :D

Most important of all, it keeps me sane. xD

It has caused me to pursue communications projects that inform the public at large about the transformative technologies ahead and how they could completely change the face of the Earth and humanity as it stands today.

I imagine that once being H+ isn't just some geek fantasy we'll use our enhanced intelligence to finally figure out a plausible system for FTL travel, one that avoids time dilation effects. Hopefully find some aliens somewhere, would be kinda ironic if we end up finding extraterrestrial intelligence at a technological level equal to what we are at now or lower. It'd be like all those movies of alien invasions, only WE'RE the ones with the flying saucers! Not that I'd propose invading them or anything.

It gives my life a purpose, it keeps me sane :)

I try to take better care of my body, I quit smoking and started exercising more often, but above all I am following new technologies and ponder how can they help me at the moment.

It gives me a lot to learn and think about in retirement. I joined with Chris Williamson as the second blogger on
Blogging the Singularity.

Next I started my own blog Blogging Life Extension.

Getting other people to think about and discuss these topics has been difficult. Most people have more immediate higher priorities in their lives and find these concepts foreign to their normal thinking. On the plus side, I was just invited to speak about the Singularity before a group of 50 - 60 mostly retired management type people in a month or so. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

Here's a quote from one of my peers - "Frank, interesting stuff. Everytime I read or hear stuff like this it ticks me off because I feel like I was born 50 years too soon. :)".
